ANNIE 50 : The Modern Retro
Amélie Gingras-Rioux and Annie Chagnon founded Annie 50 on the February 14, 2005; a clothing line specializing in ready-to-wear for women and with the aim to enhance the femininity. Over the years, the company has managed to pull out of the game with its unique style to carve out a place in the Quebec fashion industry.
The designers draw their inspiration from the references of the major trends that marked the times, while bringing a modern touch. Recalling the vintage references while soaking in fashion trends, clothes stand out for their originality and timelessness.
Moreover, the creative aim is to highlight the best features of the modern woman with the clothes they create, while offering a wide selection of materials, colors and prints. Often close to the body and comfortable, the clothe is designed to suit the lifestyle of active women, while meeting the desire of coquetry.
Therefore, even if the line offers a complete collection from season to season, it differentiates with her dresses, and allows to recognize the success of the line.
As the result of their studies, the two designers met each other during their classes at the shop “Aime Com Moi”. Annie studied fashion design at the College Marie-Victorin, she works as an assistant designer, while Amelie, while pursuing her studies in fashion marketing at UQAM, works as a store manager.
They discovered common interests with many affinities and bind readily friendship. They started to share the same dream, which is to start their own clothing line. Thus, in addition to their complementary path for the realization of such a project, their personalities turns out to be equally complicit to this new challenge.
Annie 50 rely on an ethical production, all clothes are designed and manufactured in Quebec. The company would be part of a sustainable philosophy maintaining a level of quality that best represents the Quebec manufacturing. The carefully selected fabrics usually come from Asian factories, but some selected materials are woven in Montreal and especially made for Annie 50, then, contribute to a local economy. To date, the line is now distributed in more than 60 outlets over the Canada and plans to expand in the United States where a shop already distributes the line.
